    Mg 42

    hello to all

I would post here some (bad quality) pictures of my de-activated MG 42, main maker ´CRA´, 1943 dated. I bought this one about 2 years ago in France. That´s why this one is French de-activated ´AN´ ( Arme Neutralisé).
several others makermarks are present on small pieces.

bpr- is Johannes Grossfuss,Doblen in Sachsen. Maker of MG42 parts

cof- is Carl Eickhorn Solingen, Maker of Small arms components(as well as daggers)

Jdq - No maker details known

    Hope you will enjoy

    greetings

Very nice piece. I wish more people would show their collections. The way to learn what is correct is to see what the correct ones look like.
            Thanks

                Hello Jan,

I'm not a collector of firearms, but couldn't help but be lured into the thread by the title "MG42". I for one am impressed. I did not know that these were available for purchase by collectors (deactivated or otherwise). I learned something new today. Thanks for posting the PICS.
                Regards,
                Sam

Jan-- A friend of mine likes the MG 42 very very much. He wonders for what prices these MG being sold. Can you help me with that?

Do you know that recently a new book was published about the MG42 in action. I don't know the title or author but I saw it in the monthly militaria fair in Antwerpen (miniatuurstad). Coming sunday is the fair being held again.

I bought this one in France, and payed a good price for it. Prices are growing ( same for MP's, you just don't see them at shows anymore, or a decent MG34 ). But they still are 'very cheap' in comparison with the prices in the US. A minty dated and 100 % original one is getting hard to find today ( except if you've got the $). The surplus and dummies are still all around. Even the Spanish army still use them now if I'm right. After the war a lot of these beauties were adapted to the nato-caliber and a many where donnated to the Israely armie ( kindda ironic ; israelic depot stamps next to the waffenambt ).

Volkbert ; sounds interesting, I have bought recently a book, called ' DER WEHRMACHT' PART I on german weapons, with some very interesting and nice pics of MG42 and 34 in action and accesoires.... don't know the author because I'm not home for the moment, will let you know tomorrow.

                    greetings

                    Jan
