    Are you kidding me??

I was browsing an auction on the net and I came across this thing.
Its suposed to be a ww2 german flamethrower!
Does anyone here know what this is? is it in fact a banged up flamethrower or just a pile of junk?

    Cheers,
    Chris

This is a "bodengefund" of the rare German WWII flamethrower called: Flammenwerfer M41 with first model pressure tube for the "Strahlrohr" This is rare even in that condition.

I have talked with the seller of this auction and the green paint is Norwegian army post-war paint, underneath the original tan einheitsfarben is present. Not many people today know that the Norwegian army had big plans with this cruel weapon after WWII. But the Allied cooperation ended this plan and the Norwegian army destroyed (by dumping) all the surviving Flammenwerfer`s in Norway

It`s name is FW42 or Flammenwerfer model 1942.

This is an item used by norwegian forces afer ww2. Original german ofcourse...or what is left of it.

Sorry Jotuntroll! Its not called FW42, its original model name is: Flammenwerfer.41 either standard (early model like this one) or the second model called: mit Strahlrohrpatrone, who was with a new flame gun incorporating a flash cartridge ignition system.

I have a stupid question, is it legal to have a flamethrower?. I never ran into one and never had much interest, but im really curious as I dont know the law on these.

Hi Jarrid, laws around the world vary tremendously. Here in the UK a working one but my friend David in Texas (where else! ) has sent me photos of him using a US one at a living history show some years ago.

A deactivated one would be legal here. Several friends own them, both British and German models.

                        Cheers, Ade.

Thank you, I figured it would have to fall under Destructive devices here which is the same as a machinegun.
