K98 Help needed

I have a kar98 and I bought an early war "barrel holder" I don't know it's real name and when i want to install it to the bayonett holder it does not fit (gets stuck) so I bought another bayonett holder and same thing happend.

How should I install it?
Are there different type of bayonett holders ?
Should I just simply apply more force?

It's best not to sand the bayonet bar because then you'll have to refinish it.

Take the barrel band and use emery cloth to polish the inside down to white metal then try to tap it on with a wood block or mallet. If this doesn't work coat the inside of the band with black marker pen and tap it on again. Wherever the black comes off is where it is fitting too tight. Use Swiss files and/or emery cloth backed with dowels to remove the high spots. Work slowly and carefully the band should not fit loosely. These bands are tapered and only go on in one direction. The bands were never truly interchangeable, that's why they were numbered to the individual rifle.

The barrel band/bayonet bar can tend to fit rather tight....I picked up a well used 1937 dated Borsigwalde K98k....Somebody (veteran?) must have tried to take the barreled action out of the stock.....About halfway through the process, the H-band got stock on the bayonet bar.....I purchased it this way....Had a machinist help me get them seperated...Unfortunately the numbered bandspring was lost by the former owner....Bodes
