Ammo box info

I have this ammo box , which I was told was a WWII box for belted 8mm ammo. Can anyone tell me about this box? I do not see any markings , but then again I do not know where I should be looking for any.. Any and all opinions are welcomed , as I don't any thing about it. The size is about 14 in by 7in. Thanks

This is late war variant of Patronenkasten 41 German ammunition box, pattern 1941. Markings should be placed in depression, where carrying handle is folded.

As PZO stated late war variant, any marking for manufacture code or dates.......IF present would be in the well round the handle.

Their might be some script low down at the end plates of the can designation for the ammunition can type

A No 4 would indicate 1944

A No5 = 1945

They stopped marking full dates towards the end and sometimes they have no markings at all!

Paint looks original so try to see markings without scratching away the good stuff, ie original finish.

Must have been lying around with ammunition in it for a while as you can see the corrosion marks of the belt inside on the base.

Thanks again, I did find some marks near the left/center side of the handle . Hard to make out as some of it is covered by the dark yellow camo paint. I will try and take some photos , looks like three numbers, maybe four.
I think that I am seeing things when I look too hard with the magnifying lens,

Yes it can be awkward sometimes trying to decipher whats under the paint

Advisory for you if you are not familiar with it.

Manufacturer is usually a 3 Letter code in lower case font for instance "dar" or "bdk"

Date by that time sometimes 2 number but often just the 1. Like I said "4" would indicate 1944.

If you can see 4 "somethings" its a good sign but try reading it from both sides in case you are seeing it upside down.

I am sorry to take so long to reply. It is hard to get a good photo of the markings, but in the meantime , would aca over 1941 make sense?
