    handgun fighter pilots

    Hi,

I am making a fighter pilot model / mannequin and want to know which handgun was often used by Luftwaffe fighter pilots?

I was thinking of a Mauser 1910 of P38 but I am not sure about it.

Can someone help me out on this?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

the Browning 1910/22 and the Femaru M37 were very popular among the fighter pilots. I have also seen the Mauser M1910 in use on pics at the begining of the war.

Luftwaffe aircrews used a variety of handguns. Basically any small SLP would be suitable for your mannequin. Such as; Walther PP/PPk, Sauer 38h, Mauser 1934/HSc, Browning 1910/1922, Femaru P37, and the CZ/P27.

I believe Walther Nowotny carried a Mauser HSc. I think Eric Harmann did as well?

I've attached some photos of aircrews with sidearms. One shows two aircrew both with Browning 1922's. The other shows a bomber crewman with a Femaru.

              Yes.... great attribution. Thanks all.

My choice will be a Femaru 37, but cant find deactivated ones.

Forty years ago I bought souvenirs from a Vet who was in a unit that captured a Luftwaffe air field in 1945, a FW190 landed while he was there and the pilot surrendered a nice commercial Eagle N marked Mauser HSC to him. I wish I would have kept it.
