    P38 AC43 with FN Slide

    Hi All,

I thought I'd share my P38 with a FN slide with the forum. You can see the variation on the below website, it is 4th from the bottom of the Walther section.

    http://pistole38.nl.server3.starthos...h/P38Chart.pdf

The P38 marking along with the FN acceptance stamp are a little soft as you can tell from the photos. The general consensus from other collectors is the slides from FN needed some more finishing work when they arrived at the Walther plant. The Walther stamps are all in the blue which is how they should be and the pistol shows no signs of having been refinished. FN never got fully up and running producing P38's and most of the parts they produced were shipped to the other 3 factories.

I have documentation from the family that identifies the veteran that brought it back to Canada after the war. He died in 1978 and I am just in the process of tracking down his service records.

    Let me know your thoughts.

Very nice! I like the reddish bakelite grips on these p38's.

Don't mean to intrude on your fine P-38 but here is mine with the FN frame.

            Great P.38's, thanks for posting.
I'd love to find one myself one day with FN parts.

Interesting at how poorly the P39 and AC/43 are struck on the first one shown!

I think they were originally very crisp but before the finishing process, the slides were machined a little more. All the other stamps that would have been done at the walther plant are crisp and in the blue.

Doesn't help to write P39 instead of P38.
