Mauser Question

I received this Mauser after my father died. He brought it back from the war with him. When I received it it had these bakelite or plastic grips. I replaced them with what I think is original wooden grips.Can anyone give me some information on the gun itself or the grips.

Nice looking military proofed Mauser HSc! The clear plastic grips are not original and created/ installed after the gun was taken as a souvenir. Sometimes these are called "sweetheart" grips because GIs would place pin-up pics behind them. Wooden grips are correct for this Mauser and yours are WWII originals.
