    MG 34 Waffenmeister Stock ?

    Hi all,

    just wanted to pick the brains of the experts - re the MG34 Bakelite stock in the picture .
    its unnumbered with no waffenamps etc on the Bakelite (the metal collar is correct) and seems to be of the correct proportions (excuse the poor quality side photo making it look slightly short), but has a every prominent seam on the top and bottom.
    Is this a period un numbered waffenmeister stock of WW2 vintage, or some other countries post-war part?

    have seen a few around on different vintages of MG34, but never really understood what they were.

    appreciate the thoughts....

    It does look like a correct WWII era replacement butt stock. I have had a couple or three. I got some post war replacement grip plates for MG34 also, and those look like plastic rather than bakelite. Can you see fibres in this but or is it more plastic like?

      Thanks Carles, hard to say, i think i can see the fibres, a couple more pics here (and i think i can see a waffenampt on the side view), along with some shots of the inside,

      would be interested to know if they give any more info about its age and origin.

            Thanks Carles - that's good to know.

            at fist glance i though it was a bit odd with the big seams all round, but it certainly seems to have some age to it.

            any ideas on the marking inside who made it ? - is there a German factory code 950 for someone ?

              "950" appears to be H.Rommler, AG, Presstoffwerk.

                  After a good look in the sunlight over the weekend I've managed to find a waffenampt on the lefty hand side. Looks to have been burnt in rather than etched or cast, which i guess makes sense given the material.

                  cant quite make out the number though. not sure if anyone has an idea?
