    Colt 1911 commercial ~ 1915

First Colt automatic I've ever owned where I've always been a German gun guy. Looked up the SN (C 192XX) on the Colt site and it gave 1915 as its date of mfg.

Where I'm just starting to look around/research this I've seen some vague references to high values on these early pistols. Wondering if those with a clue might offer any observations and, perhaps, a WAG on what these early Colts are valued at.

    Thanx in advance, Rick

Your barrel has been replaced. The COLT .45 AUTO marking on top of the chamber is post WWII.

1915 Government Model production was from approximately C16000 to C26000. Nothing set in stone on the early barrel markings, but the original barrel would probably have had a P stamped forward on the chamber of the barrel, and possibly a C stamped on the back of the barrel hood.

You've given no indication as to what you paid for this but IMO you have a very nice shooter. Congratulations!

Traded a buddy for it. Gave him a wall hanger worth about a grand.

Not knowing anything about the 1911 I was curious if it were one of those 3-5k gun talked aboiut on their forums or if, as James said, it's simply a hundred year old shooter.
