      Appears to be SuWw/1938. I would interpret that as Spandau Waffenwerkstatt, which given the date wouldnt be a Waffen Abnahmestempel. It would mean a repair stamp IMO. Any images out there of LP lanyards in use?

        Hi, I have never seen this type of Lanyard. Moreover, I do not know any official Lanyards for an LP34.
        If you are sure this is for the LP34, are there any pics or else? I have all known books About german Flare guns, and in None there is one of those.

        Surely for a Flare gun????

          Is not for sure if genuine. Markings are genuine german 😎

            I do not doubt that this is a genuine item from (pre-)WW2, but why do you think it is surely for a Flare gun?

              I bought this piece from Mathieu and he said ok for flare gun.
              No other handgun from wh have a large ring for its lanyard.
              P08 p 38 etc...... all are smaler.
              It rest only flare gun. This is for what i ask here if similar are known or
              Original pics from time

                  To be honest.....I have no idea what this is for exactly, but I do doubt that this is for a LP34. I collect Flare guns and Accessoires intensly since quite a while, but never came across such a Lanyard. I am sure this is no official lanyaed for Flare guns, otherwise it would be listed somewhere or shown on some wartime pics.

                  Some other opinions (i.e. from signalman or others ) would be helpful, but I do have my doubts. My opinion on this.

                        That is supposed to be a WaA4? The only acceptance marks with 4 that I can recall are Su 4 under a TR eagle and AyA4 under a Weimar era eagle. The former stamp was on a converted Mauser 1896 Red 9 I owned and the later can be seen on early police P08s. But I cannot make out any eagle in the red outlined area.

                        I only recall one image of a flare gun with a lanyard and that was of a wartime police/soldier in Yugoslavia with an early Italian flare gun with a simple strap and ring over his shoulder. I used the image in my article on police use of flare pistols.

                          Another fantasy item. I can take a piece of string and call it a Leuchtpistole lanyard, but it ain't! If there are no pictures of it in use, and it isn't listed in the supply catalogues there is certainly reason to doubt it. If the only source of information/truth is the person selling it.

                            Do you realy think that Mathieu sells fantasie items?
                            Flare guns have the ring to attach lanyards in ww 1
                            And ww 2 ok i have never see a list that such items
                            Exist for flare guns but it can be possible ?
                            Or not ??

                              Without any kind of evidence at all, I can only call it "wishful thinking". That strap can be for anything, but I very much doubt that it is the only existing lanyard strap for the Leuchtpistole ever known. Some items can be extremely rare, and never figure on a list of equipment (like the MP38 transport box), but these items will never exist "alone" if they are mass-produced and marked. This strap could have been made to hold a wire on an antenna, or made for an ambulance to hold equipment inside..... Absolutely no idea. What I do know is that there is nothing pointing towards it being the only existing Leuchtpistole lanyard ever seen......

                              This text is from my last article about flare gun accessories:

                              <big>Despite the fact that the flare gun was fitted with a lanyard ring, a lanyard was never manufactured. (Yeah, I know; plenty of fanciful variants out there for sale claiming to be).
                              </big><big>Contemporary images show various improvised solutions used as a lanyard, such as a pieces of string, ropes and leather straps.</big><big> </big>

                              <big>Denckler Verlag's educating pamphlet states that if the flare gun is not issued with a flare gun holster, the user must do the following: Take the bread bag strap (assuming the bread bag is attached to the belt) and attach the carbine hook at one end to the lanyard ring on the flare gun. Hook the other end to the D-ring on the bread bag. The strap should go over the shoulder. The flare gun is then carried between the belt and the tunic. If you do not have a cartridge pouch for the flare cartridges, these must be carried in the bread bag.</big>
                              <big>
                              </big>

                              <big><big style="font-style: italic;">A Fallschirmjäger in Tunisia with a Leuctpistole on a lanyard. The lanyard in use is in fact a standard binocular strap.
                              Also note the M1928A1 Thompson held by the Fallschirmjäger next to him.</big></big>
