I concur, but can't help but wonder...Who threw up on the grip eagle?

Seriously, it's definitely an original that has "been there".

There is no question in my mind that the sword is legitimate. The grip eagle and some of the wire almost looks as if it was buried. Very strange.

The scabbard looks like it has been a] repainted ,or b] taken from another sword. The wear on the hilt/grip and fittings look like they have been cleaned up after a fair bit of storage corrosion and this is obviously not been possible with what looks like a zinc police eagle. So either the scabbard has also been restored or it has been added. Does it have screws holding on the bottom fitting or is it a press job.
But yes looks original ,nice maker ,shame there was not an SS button in the grip !

                          Gents,

This sword has been dismantled and re-assembled at some point. Notice that the guard has been put on backwards. Perhaps it was overcleaned and the cleaning fluid attacked the grip wire and eagle? Anyway, the sword has obviously been monkeyed with a bit. It is unfortunate that some folks cannot leave well enough alone.

Hi Mike, this is the SS 'Kulturzeichen'. It was used on dagger chains, swords, Yule candlesticks, etc. It was to show that the item was accepted by the SS as being of approved design and quaility.

                              Hope this helps?

                              Cheers, Ade.
