There were other guys who did the same thing as Atwood but in different areas of militaria, medals, badges and more.
There is only one way to tell which SAs he made, mostly RZMs. For whatever reason the ring on the scabbard is not joined, just bent into place. So if you have a RZM like this, that is one of his daggers. All made during the period but assembled after the war. Are they fake? No! What do you think of them now? I don't know how to answer that so I wont. He did a lot of good for the hobby, I do feel bad about those 5K daggers! I do wonder if he truly knew? At those times daggers and all was not as well understood as today. I look at items I had 20+ years ago and am shocked I though they were real and so did everyone else!
    Time to sleep,
    Bob

Information from an older gentleman I met locally, knowing him as a dedicated active collector in a totally different collecting field, by accident I found out that he was one of Atwood's distributors. Originally he thought that Atwood had tapped into some sources in Germany that were not just daggers but also some other supposedly TR period items. And at first and for a while all seemed to be going well, but then he found out that Atwood was sending him bogus postwar fakes that he had been unintentionally selling to his friends and customers as legitimate. With no help from Atwood he tried to make good on some items - but ended up completely staying away from TR collecting having nothing at all good to say about Atwood. If that was not bad enough, TW has a section in his SS book about Atwood and a Damascus smith by the name of Müller and some of their transactions that took place in the 1960's FP
