    SS Sword for opinions

These pictures were sent to me by a friend, and I would like some opinions about it from the members who know about these. For what it's worth, the pictures were also sent to a large US dealer who offered to sell it on consignment. I'm sorry for the poor pictures, it's all I have.
Thanks in advance for any help

Look closely at the borders and overall detail, definitely a postwar etch. The maker mark looks odd too, tell your friend to return it if possible.

Would love to know who the dealer is who wanted to have it consigned.

The hilt looks good but the blade is bad.

            ss sword

A member asked, so here's the story of this sword....
My friend purchased this sword some time ago from a source he trusted, and was thinking of selling it now. He contacted TW and sent pictures to him, and was told that the value here in the states would be $12,000-$15,000 and he would like to consign it for him (I saw the email from TW). I posted the pictures here at my friends request to confirm originality, and he is not happy with the results. He'll try to get his money back, but doesn't think he'll be successful. The moral is... post it here for review before spending that kind of money!!

            Thanks for the comments

I registered this sword a few years ago in the Czech Republic. It was from a collector who doesn't have a good reputation among people in Germany. He also offered SS daggers with a chain - but they were of different parts and with a false chain. Hands away from such a dealer

And this sword Mr. Wittmann confirmed to you as the original?

                ss sword

This sword is owned by an acquaintance of mine, and he did buy it from his "trusted source" in the Czech Republic. He told me that he sent pictures of it to TW, and he showed me the email that TW sent back to him. I posted it here as a favor to have it reviewed before selling it. Texxx, it's funny that you mention this Czech dealer is also selling bad chained daggers, because here is one that my friend also bought from his "trusted source"..
I tried to upload the pictures, but that page is not working right now, I will put them up later hopefully for opinions of that one.
Thanks again for all of the comments

You'd better check things out from this source - we'll be waiting for dagger images

Interesting, too bad the sword isn’t good.
Who is this dealer in Czech? Where is he located?

I don't think it's an original dagger! Each part - crossguards, fittings on the scabbard ... is another minimally modified, abraded. The eagle in the handle is not original, it is replaced, ss pin too big. the blade is very - very bad and does not belong to the rest of the dagger. I'll have the chain reviewed by more experts here.

How much did this dagger cost you? If more than $ 200, I advise - give it back! It has no price for a solid collector

Wait for the opinions of others - I'm a budding collector over others here on the forum

In your opinion, is this dagger at least something right, authentic?

                            chained dagger

I was hoping you would weigh in on this one JR, that's what I figured, but wanted to hear it from the members that really know their stuff.

                            Thanks
