1st Luft Dagger Eickhorn (value anyone?... nice condition)

Belive I bought this for around $1100 5 years ago, great non-blunted blade, scabbard in pretty good shape with minimal loss of (is it ostritch skin I read once?).

Gold gilt almost completely intact, hanger has all connections, Eickhorn maker mark is clear.

Am considering putting it up for sale in a few days but I don't want to get low-balled too much. It's my best piece probably.

spaceyss, yes a nice 1st luft. But, IMO you are going to have a very hard time getting what you paid for it in todays market.
    Regards,

      Regards,

I was guessing that would probably be the case... could you shoot me a ballpark figure of its worth on WA, I used to be on here literally every day for a couple of years back when I was in college, I guess prices dropped... if I do decide to get rid of it, I'd rather it not be up for sale for a month or two.

2nd picture from the top looks like there might be unit numbers under the cross guard. If that's the case it might increase value some. Can you confirm numbers or post a better picture of the bottom of the cross guard?

$1100 Wow . I would guess around the $550-$600 mark. I sold one similar with one that was tatty for about $500 about 5 years ago on the estand. Rob

If that is a unit marking then the price would be higher

I don't see a unit marking, I think it's just pitting on the crossblade...

I remember when these things were going for a grand+ with less gilting. I think that officially makes me old. Doh!!!

I examined a bunch of these at the MAX. For an early nickle fittings example, I don't think $1100 is completely crazy. The later aluminum ones, yeah, $500-600-ish depending on condition. From the photos it looks like one side of the grip is a little banged up, (but not terrible) so you may have a challenge getting 100% of your money out of it. Pricing can be a bit subjective and that's why we shy away from it on forums. Along the lines of what ROBB posted, find the most similar one you can on a big dealer's site and deduct about 1/3 to get a collector to collector price.

Ok, so does this one have the early nickel fittings or a later aluminum? I'm not sure. I may just have to keep this baby.
