Alcoso Kriegsmarine dagger for review

Could I get your opinion on whether this dagger is original. The scabbard is magnetic and the wire is missing on the grip.

Looks to be part original. Push button looks like a replacement, portepee looks repro and didn’t start life on that dagger - take off the portepee and study the grip for fit and wear marks. Oh and the scabbard age looks a way apart from the hilt fittings. Not sure about this one

Good one, it is a very late Alcoso with their last maker mark, the pommel and crossguard are pot metal (Zinc) and the reason why they look darker than the steel scabbard, i can only say about the release button that i have seen a number of Alcoso's with this style of button. As well as the grip wire one side screw is also missing, but otherwise a good example of a very late Alcoso.

Thanks Russ. You can still see some gilding on the zinc parts but as you say that would be why there is such a difference in color between the scabbard and the dagger fittings.
