Early NSKK by Hugo Rader

Good day

I don't think there are any red flags with this early NSKK dagger by Hugo Rader. Quite a rare maker I believe.

The fittings appear to be nickel silver and and all correct for the dagger. Some paint loss to the scabbard and a small chip to the handle.

The lower cross piece is stamped No for Motorobergruppe Nord or is it Motorobergruppe Nordost?


Any red flags that I need to be aware of before sending it to the ForSale table?

Dagger looks good to me. Too bad regarding the small chip and the blade.

I’d like to see more close ups of the scabbard and it’s paint. Just to be sure.

Here are some closeup pics of the scabbard. And, yes, I think that ivbaust is correct it has been repainted. one or two tiny spots of black paint on the nickel fittings.

No idea if it is possible to tell if this is a period repaint.

Could be period. Chances are good IMO

Looks like an honest dagger IMO . Obviously been re painted at some point but could very well be period . No way to know for 100% .

When NSKK-Korpsführer Adolf Hühnlein ordered that the scabbard bodies of all NSKK Standard Service Daggers be changed from brown to black in May of 1936, different responses to this order took place. Some NSKK members bought new scabbards, identical to the SS scabbards, while other members painted their brown scabbards with black enamel paint. Some members even went to the trouble of coloring their brown dagger grips black with something like shoe-polish; I have an example of this in my collection.
