Nice original Kober dagger. The Suhl makers are desirable and sought after. I dont think the lack of Gau mark is an issue.

Nice, unmessed with piece. Not rare, but very collectible and in good condition. The missing group stamp is interesting... I had one like this before. Can't tell you what the value would be since I have no idea of where the market is today... or even if there IS much of a market any longer.

I’ve seen quite a few early pieces without a Gau mark, a strange oddity indeed but nothing to be concerned about. Price wise in the uk a dealer would want £600-£700, private sale £500.

The earliest dagger orders issued by the SA/NSKK were filled with pieces which included an abbreviated die-stamped code on the lower reverse crossguard indicating which SA Group each piece was produced for. This is not a "Gau mark," though many of the original SA-Gruppen were named after the Gau in which they were headquartered. But some of the SA Groups included territories overlapping into adjoining Gaue and, while this afforded the SA-Gruppenfühers a bit of autonomy from the local Gauleiters, it also produced stress between the two leadership systems and the individuals who occupied those top positions -- PL vs. SA.

These SA-Gruppe stamps were only employed during the initial run of daggers, which of course were quite sizable orders. Future orders for daggers were smaller in number, though all else remained the same for the first two years of dagger production.

The very first dagger that I purchased was in 1997 at my great uncle's estate auction. He had brought back an SA Ground Rohm by E. Pack which did not have a Gau/group mark.
