    DAK machete?

Hello! I ask for emergency help.
Did DAK machete even exist? Is she like that?

The Luftwaffe in the desert did have some survival kits with knives. But this one is not familiar to me and may be a scam, needing some much better images to take a serious look at it and it's size.

For an approximate size, I'm imagining a human hand more or less filling the grip. But irrespective of how large it is - I'm afraid that the blade here is not anywhere close to being a match. And if I had to make a guess it is that it's possibly a farming implement of some kind. FP

Correct FP, the LW provided a survival kits in for arid/desert and winter scenarios. These are documented by pictorial evidence as shown here.

Andy, I don't think anyone was seriously calling the machete at the beginning of this thread a LW survival machete. Frogprince and I pointed out the LW (and Police) were issued the brass handled machetes in the news photo and it differs greatly from the one at the thread beginning.

Here's another type of machete which could be found in luftwaffe survival kits..
                      Simple, but effective.

Interesting images....are they from period newspapers or what. In what context are they found. I see the Benzin container and the sun glasses.

I'm not sure just where you draw the line between a knife and a machete, the blade itself can be compared in some respects I think perhaps to something like the O.S.S. Smachete. Which is a larger knife that was designed and can be used for multiple purposes. One of the photos here I believe an excerpt from a related but larger photo also showing a folding shovel and other items in what is very likely a desert setting. (The source of which not one that I have knowledge of.) The physical proportions I think arguably suggesting an adaptation of a pre-exisitng smaller item that would serve the practical needs of flight crewmen whose aircraft were forced down. FP

One picture comes from a Adler magazine..
Here's a shot from a video, bit of desert survival stuff.. and a shot of a army guy with this particular type of machete..

Very intersting period images Jos., though I would hesitate to try and hold my examples by my teeth. Too heavy. Yours are modern examples I presume, as there are differences in design from the examples in the period images.
