Totally untouched early HJ Knife Gladiatorenwerke

Hi folks. I picked up this totally uncleaned HJ Knife from a cellar find here in germany. "Blut und Ehre" visible under dust and dirt. My question is: Leave it as it is or clean it? Any opinions are welcome!

I don't think a nice coat of renwax would do any harm after a mild soapy wash.I would thoroughly dry before applying the renwaxk-just my opinion.

In the western U.S. sometimes old guns are found in camps and mining locations etc. that are aged or even well aged that could be cleaned up. But then the history is removed and they look like all of the other same type artifacts that are in circulation. The knife here does not look like it's actively disintegrating, so why not keep it warm and dry while you take your time in trying to decide what to do? Having seen a number of much older period artifacts that have been over-cleaned destroying what made them interesting and collectible. JMO. FP

Agreed. The only "history" it has is being poorly stored and forgotten.

                    Leave it untouched.
Just gently wipe the dust, and place knife in a dry storage.

                      Leave it untouched?
                      It’s filthy
daggers seem to be the only collectible that people say leave the dirt alone normally adding its patina !
                      Even coin have dirt removed

I am not saying polish it just clean all the crap off
It will still be untouched just clean and will look a lot better

Too bad, it was a beautiful untouched one.
Now the price of the knife will fall.

                            Don’t be silly
Cleaning dirt off a dagger will not make the price fall
