Probably postwar fake etch. Its a normal KS98 dress bayonet by Pack, mostly done with screw in grips replaced and added a police eagle with rivets on it. Both frogs presented on first pictures are repros or different country frog b.r.Andy

I hope you don't intend buying this bayonet for it is really bad.

First of all, the bayonet is a military parade bayonet, these were not issued to SchuPo (as far as I am aware)

The Police emblem does not belong on the grip.

The etching is really, really bad, in your close up photographs you can see that it clearly is no etching of any quality, the soft edges etc.

A perfectly nice Parade bayonet ruined in order to dupe some poor fellow out of money

        Cheers

        Jamie

Several observations on the pictured piece. First, the etch is a poor postwar rendition of an etch that was period done, albeit rarely. There is no question here, 100% bad. These etches appeared on 3R era Polizei style bayonets with aluminum hilts. Originals have etches are well detailed.

This style bayonet, KS98 with sword grip emblem has been seen previously & would be appropriate for a late period Feuerschutzpolizei bayonet. This one, however, is not a Feuerschutzpolizei bayonet. Those examples considered period are seen with copper sword grip emblems, maker marked by WKC or are unmarked, with or without sawback blade & crucially here, with unplated hilts. This blade is a Pack blade, the grip emblem is not copper & the hilt has been plated so this piece is not an original configuration IMO.

Worth a few dollars as a letter opener is about it, sorry.
