Army Officer Dress Sword?

My friend was cleaning out his great-grandfather's (a WWII vet) belongings after his passing this weekend and found this under the bed. My friend is interested in finding out how much it's worth. I told him it looks like an army officer's dress sword, but I'm admittedly not the most knowledgeable about swords. He says he hasn't found a sheath, so there probably isn't one.

You are correct it is an Army officers sword. Because it has quite a bit of wear and is missing the scabbard the valve is low. I would think only around $175.00 or less but with all things collectable you might find someone willing to pay more.

He might keep it, then. He was just curious. I told him he should keep it anyway because it's such an interesting collectible and the circumstances in which he found it were so interesting. Thanks for the help!

Nah, the gold finish has just worn off over time. You can still see spots of it here and there.

A lovely R KLAAS Heer parade sword ! Too bad the scabbard is missing because that model isn't too easy to find ... Still the sword looks in good condition ! Nice find !
