Generic B pommel and crossguard, not right for Alcoso.

      Alcoso and type B crossguard

See Exploring the Dress Daggers of the German Army, page 101.
Tom Wittmann shows Alcoso as one of the occasional users of the type B crossguard.

Guess anything is possible but Alcoso were one of the large manufacturers and produced their own guards right up to the end of the production period, finishing with their type 4 "high lift" guard in 42. Wardaggers cross guard reference site says the large companies did not use the generic B and it is also not shown or mentioned as a guard Alcoso used on Tom Kendell's reference site. Wittmann's army book was written a long time ago and is outdated.

IMO crossguard handle and pommel are taken from earlier Heer dagger produced by Anton Wingan Solinge.
Scabbard looks like Alcoso Solingen product.

Depending on who you ask, this is either a Wingen guard or a generic B.

I think the scabbard is Alcoso.
There is some difference of opinion among collectors whether the Wingen and Herder guards are just Generic Bs.

Alcoso was a user of the generic B types , so IMO this dagger is fine.

For reference to show Alcoso used the generic B cross guard can anyone show some examples, I have looked in 3 collections, 2 cross guard reference sites, 1 army book, some dealer's sites and archives and can not find one.

                    Russ.
