    "C" Maker's Mark?

Hey gang, any idea who made this K98 bayonet? It's marked with only a C on one side and serial number on the other. It hasn't been sharpened and the hilt has waffenamts.

The scabbard is non matching, marked 44asw, and it looks like the original serial # on the scabbard was scrubbed on the back and restamped on the hanger stud like a Yugo rework, but I don't see any signs of grinding on the bayonet.

    Thanks in advance.

Hello the bayonet was reserialed 4804 on wrong side, there should be code so possible looking with magnyfiyng glass for remains of stamp, also both side of ricasso were filled, on the front side remained only letter o or c from serial number. The scabbard looks like reserialed too by Yugoslavia or other country, the parts were not refurbished,as typical seen with new heavy blueing and mixed parts. WaA519 speaks for Solingen 1942-45. possible the bayonet was too 43 or 44? to sample cof ? b.r.Andy

Thanks Andy. Under a digital microscope I don't see any traces of prior stamps, but I do see smooth grind marks perpendicular to the blade, the signs of grinding off the manufacturer's code and serial number you mentioned. Thank you for your patience.
