Opinions: 1st model Luft David Malsch

Hey. Im looking at this dagger in the mid $700's. Think it is worth it? Thanks

Not one I would want, pommel looks out of place as its too clean compared to the crossguard. Do you know what all the fittings are made of, you have to be careful with these as there are three different kinds of fittings - all nickel, all aluminium, and pot metal with steel scabbard fittings, so parts can often be miss-matched, especially the chains.

That's exactly what I was thinking, the chain looks like a later vintage than the dagger itself.

Look for an earlier 1st Model Luft. with a nickel chain and nickel fittings, *100%* silvering remaining between the swastica legs. Excellent condition *original* leather, the grip leather must exactly match the scabbard leather. Blade condition must be near mint. Save your money while you hunt, cherry examples cost more but are well worth it .. The fun is in the hunt! Take your time!

            Good hunting!
