    Luftwaffe 2nd pattern opinions

Not too many Henckels when I used the search function here to compare to this one. I think it might be ok but would like some opinions please. Whats the troddel/portopee go to? I'm sure its not for this dagger.

    Thank you
    Mike

Its hard to tell from these photos, but dagger scabbard crossguard and pommel looks like SMF product?
    Troddel is intended for bayonet.

      Thank you

IMO yes, look fitting between handle ferrule and crossguard.

The parts are from the maker Alcoso. SMF scabbards do not have sidesrews.

It is known Henckels used Alcoso parts. That’s why I believe this dagger is 100% correct.

          Regards
          Danny

I agree with Danny, Alcoso parts. The crossguard is the narrower Alcoso type, It's the same as the one I have and is IMO the best looking eagle on these 2nd model lufts.

Not a "dagger guy" (I just have a few basic ones) but I love eagles and I did notice that the eagle on Mike's dagger looks identical to the one on my Alcoso. I knew some makers used other makers parts but wasnt sure if that was the case for Alcoso & Henckel or if mine was an Alcoso blade "put together" with an atypical crossguard which made me a bit nervous since the crossguard eagle was a big factor in my choice: glad its OK and nice Luftwaffe dagger Mike!

              Thanks

I think its a gorgeous dagger, I think it is one of the most appealing 2nd lufts there is!
                Nice dagger!

PS- It would be a good idea to clean the finger prints off the blade, over time they will do damage.

I agree with Danny. A great 2nd Luft here, Henckels is rare maker for 2nd Luft.
Looks veteran brought back, uncleaned. Second one I recall seeing.

Mike, did you score it, or just asking ?

I had my eyes on it but it was out of my budget.
I'm not well versed on daggers and all the different manufacturers trademark looks on their parts
I appreciate all the help guys

This is a very nice looking dagger, obviously a rare maker. Looks like it's in untouched condition as it was brought home, who wouldn't like that?

I have seen two versions of the Henckels maker mark on 2nd Lufts.

This one in this thread is the one that is most often found (and rarely at that). Henckels was not a prolific maker of 2nd Lufts.

I was willing to bet you had a Henckels in your stash. It two? Excellent work!
