That's a very nice textbook Eickhorn M29 updated to an M38 with the "Replacement" pommel, has the correct early style crossguard and scabbard. Nice one.

No. It’s no good. You need to send it to me! It’s very nice. Congratulations. Those hangers are stunning as well. Love the set in place knot. We will never forgive anyone who unties it.

IMO original Carl Eickhorn M1938 Krigsarine dagger produced during 1939. Hangers are Motz product.

Schlange, can you explain how this dagger is an M38 and how you can date it to the exact year of 1939.

The dagger is fit with the 1938 "Replacement" pommel which replaced the original ball pommel in 1938 which this dagger would have had when it was produced as an M29 (1929 - early 1938), if it was produced as you say in 1939 it would not have the "Replacement" pommel, it would have been fit with Eickhorn's standard M38 pommel. The crossguard is the smaller type Eickhorn used on their M29s, if it was produced in 1939 it would have their larger M38 type guard. The maker mark is known as their 35-41 mark which could not date this dagger to an exact year, and if as you stated in another thread that this mark with the detail inside the tail is dated 1936-40 (where did you get that info) it would still not date this dagger to the exact year of 1939. IMO this dagger was manufactured as an M29 between the years of 1935 - early 1938 and then updated to an M38 with the "Replacement" pommel.

                      Russ.
