No matter how carefully I look, the checkering pattern appears to be slightly less coarse than average. If Wittmann had one of these for sale, that's good enough for me.

I've enclosed a comparison of a WKC grip diamond to the one Des posted to try and show the difference.
Sorry I am not following this - what do you mean "the diamond following the checkering" ?? I cant see what you are talking about & this is the first I have heard of it ??

Here is mine - can someone advise what this is ??

Craig, if you will carefully follow the lines of the checkering pattern where it touches the diamond you will notice that the sides of the HJ diamond are not exactly parallel to the lines of the checkering. Although somewhat hard to see from your photo I can see the checkering on the left upper edge of the diamond on your grip is not perfectly parallel to the lines of checkering. On many reproduction daggers the lines of the checkering are exactly parallell to the grip diamond. I'll try and retouch the photo I posted to point out what we're talking about.

          Ok

Thanks Larry I see what you mean now - appreciate your reply.

Here is a close up of my grips.

BTW I just bought the Robert Klass that is on the estand & it appears just the same as this piece

Since I paid for it I suppose I can post the pics for comparison to the dagger that started the thread in the fist place

              & here is a fake

That I believe explains what you are saying ?? I would have passed on this as it doesnt have the rivet in the scabbard but now I know something else.

Thanks for pointing this out Larry _ i had never heard of this

              Best Regards

Are HJ daggers without the blade inscription worth less than those that do have it? Also I am curious to know the ball park value of mine at todays prices. Would it be about $250?

                  good question Des

I think those with inscription are worth more, & I think you are about right on the money for yours, I doubt it but if you are selling it then keep me in mind I think it would make a nice companion for the one I just bought. Perhaps you should look on Wittmans & Johnsons site etc as a rough price guide
                  regards

                    Hi Craig,

Thanks for the reply. I could never sell it, too much sentimental value and my Dad would be very pi$$ed off with me I am sure you will understand
