Navy Dagger by Clemen & Jung

Thought you guys might enjoy this. Original guilting about 98%+. Killer Blade. The only thing preventing this piece from being one of the finest Known is that it is missing the scabbard lock knob. The hole is threaded, if I could just find a knob.

Larry, That's a wonderful example of a later C&J Navy with drilled crossguard.

There are guys that won't touch these later Clemen & Jung examples with the large etched logo but some are right as rain. I like this one a lot.

          Billy, as usual, is correct.

These later logo C&J blades were left over at the factory and there were many Put-Togethers post-war.

          I also like this one.

            Hi guys,
I am one of them they don’t touch these later C&J KM daggers. My question, do you like the grip?
            Best,
            Oleg.

I agree with Oleg i also do not like the look of the grip, looks like a solid plastic bright white post war one. Buffer pad also looks brand new.

I'm also no fan of such a snowwhite grip.

I have to admit I don't know what timeframe these were assembled from left over parts, but I do know this one has spent the past 47 years in a display case on the wall in a friends bedroom. If problems began before that you guys may be right, otherwise, I question your call.

                        Km c&j

This is how mine looks like and I believe it to be 100% wartime.
There's some decent wear to the inside of the scabbard rings and the portepee has been on the dagger for a long time.

Handle is yellow/cream as it should be after more then 70 years.

                        Kris.

Oleg, Good observation on the grip.
I have to reconsider my 'like'.

The grip color can be off-putting for sure. The thin grip wire is identical to the late model Clemen & Jung in Witty's book, as distinguished from the early produced piece with stamped logo. Just the look of the large etched logo can give collectors hives but I definitely believe some of these were produced pre-1945.

I think the etched logo C&J Navy daggers have to be taken on a case by case basis. One of the red flags is pommel detail, the originally posted piece seems to show decent detail, to me anyway.

                            Kris's example looks really nice.

By developing a different type of plastic the Germans were eventually able to get around the problems with unstable/color changing plastics. I looked into the matter years ago looking for the timeline, so it seems I will have to look again because I don't recall how specific it was. FP
