Strange Latvian Swastika Dagger + Scabbard !!

    Hi guys,

I've been offered this Latvian Dagger I have many doubts about originality wich I never seen it and handled before. I think it is a fake

Could you give me an opinion please?

Seller says it's original, he provided me a positive opinion of Weize and he also attached a picture of this dagger from a third reich dagger book.

Thanks in advance for help, regards

    Francesco

Unfortunately these reproductions came out a few years ago and have destroyed the market for these extremely rare daggers.

JimW, can you explain your statement a bit more for me? All TR daggers are faked regularly, I'm trying to understand why "the market is destroyed" for this type of dagger but not all the others that are also being faked. Seems to me that the guys here on the forum had absolutely no trouble figuring out the dagger in question here is bad.

I feel like the market for a TR item "crashes" when even a "in hand inspection" can't tell the good from the bad. Am I wrong or are TR daggers of all types a long way off from "crashing" due to perfect fakes i.e. TK rings?

Hi Starvin. This is a dagger where there are only a hand full of originals, like many non German daggers. Because of that collectors know very little about them so it is easier4 for the fakers to reproduce these and convince people they are original.
That was clearly the case with this dagger based on my observation of actual prices charged.

I also have no doubt that the German market is consistently plagued by the flow of reproductions. Especially when the reproductions are becoming better all the time.

The effect is simply more dramatic on non
                          German as I stated above.

So as not to derail the OPs thread I have created a separate thread to dive a bit further into JimW's statement.

A few people on the forum here have no problem figuring out that this dagger is fake because (IT IS A BAD FAKE) (NOT EVEN CLOSE TO A ORIGINAL)
And would not fool a educated collector at all.. This stuff is ebay baite!
As they are for sale on that site weekly..
The forms are not by any stretch of the imagination a know all site.
