    SA by Heidelberg; opinions please.

    Hello again to this forum,

I've had a 'run' on SA daggers lately, but figure the time to buy them is when they are available. I bought this one for $400, hoping that you guys might provide some input. The scabbard screws have not been turned and the dagger appears not to have been cleaned or taken apart, at least in a long time.

All comments are most welcome. Thanks,

    Harvey

Looks like an early SA with anodized scabbard. SA group Westfalen.

Some distrust to maker mark and SA group mark (letter "f").
But as a whole looks well.

i hate looking at pics, but doesnt the scabbard seem to be painted? Should be anodized. Otherwise than that it looks very fine. Nice crossgraining. A little semi-chrome on the blade and I think it would rate a little better.

The photos make the scabbard look painted but it's not; I tried but was unable to capture the true appearance of the scabbard. It is anodized and has almost all of the laquer. The laquer appears to have cracked somewhat, mainly on the obverse side, but it gives every appearance of being original. If you look at the dark spot near the bottom of the scabbard you'll see that it is a reflection of me taking the photo; so that the laquer is somewhat reflective.

Is Carl Heidelberg a common maker's mark?

4 of 1000 daggers is a Heidelberg(Fisher Quick Reference). I wonder if that number isnt a little low, I tend to see them quite often.

Yea I hoped it was anodized but I had to ask. Nice dagger! For 400 I'd buy it.

That is one nice thing no matter what gun show you go to no matter how small you will always see 1000 daggers
