Correct Name for Sword or Dagger Knots?

I am referring to this type of thing, it being the "knot" for a police weapon.


What exactly is the correct term for this piece?


A "Knot"? A "Troddel"? A "Portepee"?


I know that German regulations sometimes referred to a rank as being "Mit Portepee", but what is the correct description for the piece?



And does it make a difference if we are talking about the device being worn on a bayonet vs. a sword vs. a dagger?
