Nontextbook at best. Stick with one by Klaas, although there are some who believe Eickhorn & Tiger may have made some.

        What's up with the Herder?

The companion piece to the so-called Luftwaffe "Funeral Dagger" - Klaas used a white painted black plastic on some Army daggers that was probably due to a shortage of the white resins. Many of them show evidence of cleaning, reworking, and/or re-polishing. Discussed at other times and places with an extensive one on another forum, there is no known verifiable period evidence at all that a "1st Model" was authorized. Not that it prevented James Atwood from including a supposed 1st Model in his book, although I'm told that he was not the first one to make that claim. FP.

                Martin,

2nd picture down, now that I can see the grip on a full size screen, it appears ill-fitting. Just my inclination is to say it's a parts piece & the grip isn't original to the dagger, but let's see what the others have to say.

I agree the grip does not look to be original to the dagger.

I believe Frog Prince summed it up nicely. My observation on these 1st model daggers is that people that have one for sale believe they are original and pretty much everyone else has doubts. In any case the only maker I would accept is Klass.

                        I agree with Frogpince.
Attached is a Klass army with black gip over painted white.

                          Hi Barry,
Your Klaas dagger is so ugly and yet so beautiful at the same time.

                          I love it!

That Klass has a lot of class. Nice.

A very nice Klaas. And Kudos to Barry for not only sharing it, but also for leaving its history intact. Something that cannot be said about those individuals who saw "an Investment Opportunity" and most unfortunately decided to strip away history to fatten their wallets. FP
