    'v' Notched 98/05 Bayonet

Here is a interesting Police bayonet.. It started service in 1916 as a standard WW1 combat service bayonet.. Then inventoried in 1920 for the Weimar Republic,Then it was issued to the police and demilled by cutting a 'V' in the atachment area, and removing the press stud so it could not be attached to a rifle, it was only to be used as a sidearm thus getting around the Treaty of Versailles and not having to be inventoried as a weapon.. It was then at some time refirbished and a new press stud was added so it could be used on a rifle.. The markings are for the LAND Police THURGINA... This one was sent home in a wooden box with some standard bayonets and other militaria..Enjoy BILL
