I'm reserved on these. Not a type I saw before. Maybe such fat runes on a Hammesfahr...?
Also seems that they don't fit deep enough in the wood. They stick out a bit.

Have you ever read this interesting thread over there at German daggers.com?

identifying SS daggers by the variation of the rune button is very difficult or impossible.

Yes I know.

But I see for example Eickhorn uses a typical type of button. Also their Röhm daggers have in most cases a very typical kind of SS button that obviously changed at some point. The Himmler daggers don't have the same buttons as most of the Röhms but have the same types as the regular Eickhorns. Which is normal because they all came later then the Röhms.

Also Klaas uses most of the time the short fat runes. Those which are also one of the 2 accepted types that were used by Böker.
Pack has also a type that you see on most of their daggers and look strongly on Eickhorns. Same as Herder which has also a typical button.

I know it is not a exact knowledgde but for me it are always reasons to look further when I see a type button that I don't expect on a certain dagger Im researching. It's true, it is not 100% watertight.

Yes, I know that topic. Very inresting and its true what is written there.
But for me and thats because its me I do likke to see certain buttons on certain makers.
But yes they usd other runes from time to time but most of the time they held on a specific type imo.
Maybe when they ran out of stock or when the renewed contracts...
There are lot of things possible on SS daggers... things man would almost not believe and fronsed eyes.
Thats also what makes it so fascinating off course.

Unless the runes button is fake, i would not rule out its appearance on any dagger.

These pictures are not the best, but if I remember correctly I think I've seen this on a lot of rzm SS.
