Old Wingen Pocketknife and LW Sword Grip, opinions please.

    Hello to the forum,

I know that's an odd combination but I'll try to explain. I have an old pocket knife in mint condition with half a box. I've owned it for about 14 years and would like to know about when it was made; any ideas?

Also, I have what I believe to be original grips to a LW Officer's Sword. I've owned this for nearly twenty years and have had no occasion to use them, so I planned to sell them on the E-Stand. I wanted to make absolutely certain that they are original before I try to sell them. Are they right?

    Thanks,

    Harvey

The sword grips look fine to me.

The knife is a private purchase, all-purpose hunting/camping/utility knife by Anton Wingen. They were sold and carried well before, during and after the Third Reich era, so it's difficult to date the piece. Knives of this type are still popular with the 'outdoorsy' types in Germany and elsewhere. I'm not sure if Wingen is still in business.

Sorry I can't be of more help with dating the piece.

                  Thanks Skipper,

That's very helpful. Back when I bought the pocketknife the man that sold it to me said he had purchased it from a returning WWII veteran. I didn't know whether or not to believe him because I was unsure that knives would have had stainless steel blades back then. I bought the knife because the stag was so wonderful and the blades made a perfect knife for field-stripping big game.

                  Thanks again,

                  Harvey
