Named Navy Officers Dagger with knot, hangers and under uniform belt

The dagger and etched bayonet came indirectly from a veterans family. Someone I know bought them this morning and them brought them to me.

I will start a separate thread for the bayonet. The dagger is quality, it has the initials ‘E M’ on the reverse of the scabbard. On the under uniform belt is the surname Mitzlaff, which has been written twice.

Would it be possible to research the original owner? or at least narrow it down to a possible owner?

I collect and deal in British Medals so not things I will be keeping. Are there any rules for posting edge weapons? I live in the UK.
