A standard Enlisted/Jr NCO style of private purchase Sabel by Puma with the correct hanger. It is shown in their wartime catalogs so a Wehrmacht sword with these markings. Worn by all (Infantry, Mounted, etc.) sections of the WH.

In the Weimar era for official German Army on duty wearing at first they used mostly ex-Prussian government property Infantry, Cavalry, Artillery officer's model swords - with the wearers senior grade NCO's. Towards the end they adopted the government property Einheitsäbel that is virtually identical to the TR era German Army saber other than the markings. With the saber pictured here a scaled down version of the Prussian n/A M1856 enlisted man's artillery saber*, as was previously stated, a private purchase version seen in period catalogs as a Mannschaftsäbel. Other period documentation indicating that it was intended for off duty wear by ordinary mounted soldiers which followed the traditional practices of the Imperial era. FP

          * TR era cavalry is pictured with the n/A M1856 in use (and possibly some early field artillery as well but so far no photos).
