    What is triple etched?

When a sword is triple etched, what is that referring two? Does it mean that there is etching on front, back and side of the blade? or is it referring to three different types of etching on the blade such as a decorative pattern, name or regiment, and some sort of artistry?

Not uncommon on Imperial era swords, I think that it's mostly used to describe both sides, and the narrower back or the spine of the blade - oftentimes for the maker/distributor. FP

An example of the etch on the spine of an Imperial artillery.

You can also find spine etches on forestry cutlasses fairly often.
