K98 bayo original coulor

I have a question about the K98 bayo.

Was the blade 65 years ago black.
And the "thing" where you put it in (I'am talking about the bayo ) what coulor did that have?

I'am asking this beacause I cleaned one of my bayo, and now it's chining like a mirror

The combat versions of the K98 bayo all had dark, blued finishes of varying quality (depending on when they were made). If you polished yours until it shines you probably ruined it...
