This must have a Forestry connection. Interesting!

All 1. model luftwaffe dagger produced by Horster Solingen has dark blue lather.
Scabbard screws looks quite damaged due unscrewing.
These two facts are calling me to careful. (leather replacment)

From the pictures I would still suggest this is a later Aluminium 1st Luft dagger that had been recovered with green leather.
The seam is evident especially on the grip and on original 1st Lufts they were expertly done where the seam is virtually invisible. Also there is 'gathering' to the leather near the lower fitting. This is where the leather had not been stretched enough when glued to the scabbard as it tapers near the bottom.
It's not a Land customs scabbard as they have different fittings.

                  Best wishes
                  Ian

                    Ian and team,

I truly appreciate everyone's prompt responses. The seam on the handle was enough for me as I would expect it to be much more well done. I appreciate the assistance and will relay to my buddy to leave it alone. It's apparently next to another 1st model luft that has been restored. So that kinda paints the picture in my opinion. Thank you all again for the quick responses! Matt

Not sure if the leather is original or not. I was just thinking that if original, that it's a coincidence that both dagger scabbards were produced by the same maker at roughly the same timeframe.
