    You are correct: a section at the top of the first letter seems to be missing. This is not something that one would expect to find on a special order etch.

    Here are pics of my Eickhorn etch and of the grip showing the rivets.

    Based on these observations and the grip insignia, which 99 times out of a 100 is found to be post war added to these bayonets, I would be very, very leery of this bayonet.

      I have the feeling that the top of the first letter of your second and third word are also missing,just my ten cents.....

        Here is the etch on my Eickhorn example; looks to be identical to John Z's, imo.

          From the pictures presented so far, as an outside observer it looks to be identical to me also in that it's not missing the top portion of the first letter. FP
