    Heeressabre Herm. Rath Solingen

I got this from a relative, who was Oberleutnant and died last year.

Very seldom seen sabre, obvious with all parts from Herder, but with the stamping of Herm. Rath Solingen.

But....why did the do such things, and not only here, also Tiger/Pack and others?

    My 2 possible stories:

Rath only mounted the parts, which they bought from Herder and then sold as their sabres in their stores. They maybe were too small to produce everything, but wanted to offer everything...

Or: Herder gave the order to Rath, to mount the sabres, because they had too much work to do it theirselves (or other reasons), and then got it back and sold them as their products. But with the stamping of Rath....

Fact is, my relative bought his sabre and his dagger in one shop, and the dagger is a Herder. He once told that to his daughter.

    What do you say?

Ostmaerker i think that small factories didnt designed all their products.
It was way cheaper to buy parts for a certain model swords or daggers from the bigger ones that hmade their own design.
After that they put their makermark on it, and sold it as their own.
The Pack swords hilts are not only sold to Tiger but i saw a Wingen also with the exact same hilt.

        Regards
        Ger
