    Engraved Dress Bayonet-Panzer Recon

From a vet estate...Looks like it has a very good chance...All comments welcome..I have taken photos with and without flash--Crisp single sided etching...Blade is not maker marked..The checkered bakelite grips do have a different style of rivets....

I believe these type of rivets are a trait of E. Pack & Sohne
Might be a clue to the maker.
    Ralph.

It's a Pack etch on an unmarked Pack bayonet. The spanner bolts are a Pack trait.

The etch is to a recon unit not a panzer unit.

            John,

Wasn't Aufklärungs (Recon) Abt 4. assigned to a Panzer Division?

Great piece! Would be a solid one to tick away, like the pink plug as well. Matt

Reconnaissance Battalion 4 was assigned to the 4th Panzer Division.

Based on the book, Wehrmacht Panzer Divisions, 1939-45, the following was the organization chart for the 1st Panzer regiment in 1939:

                    Schutzen regiment 1
                    Kradshutzen Bataillon 1 (motorcycle battalion)
                    Panzer Regiment 1
                    Panzer Regiment 2
                    73 artillerie regiment
                    aufklarungs abteilung 4
                    panzerjager abteilung 37
                    pionier battallon 37
                    nachrichten abteilung 37
                    37th divisional support unit

This would say that the above etch is to a unit within Panzer Division 1.
