Original. Your photos make that an easy call to make.

Not so much engaged with NSKK daggers but this one looks like a very nice transitional piece.
Kissingcrane forgemark is a very nice addition and for sure done by yes,... Robert Klaas.

Quite a handsome piece, even considering the hardware plating beginning to lift and the blade possibly having been polished. But it hurts me deeply to see such a piece dis-assembled and thereby risking further damage to the grip fit and to the pommel nut.

I have to agree, unless it was already loose and obviously taken apart before a dagger nut should never be turned, a real dagger does not need to be dismantled to be evaluated.

Looks to be original - All the fittings have been badly polished, wouldn't be surprised if the blade was as well, post a pic if able.
Usually these whizzers can't stop with a piece or 2 and have to polish all metal to make it look nice and spiffy. tough to tell if the chain was polished too and obviously thats where the value is at.

If the nickel-plated surface was cleaned - a result will be peeled nickel.
In these chase all nickle is on the place and IMO these dagger is nice untouched original.

                          "Untouched" lol funny.

Was not only cleaned but buffed, possibly dipped as well very obvious - And in any case, plate is lifting in spots.
