    Help with Teno Hewer

This is coming up in an Florida auction in a couple weeks.
All I have to go by are these poor photos.
Does anyone see any obvious red flags with this Teno Hewer?
I have no idea if it is numbered or not.
It is cracked on the handle.
Are all Teno Hewer's numbered? I have never owned one myself and I know little about them.

    Thanks, Dave

I don't see any numbers under the swas. Some can say that they were rubbed out, however, the blade doesn't look cleaned. Not a good sign for originality IMO.

So I take it that they were all numbered?

The ones I have seen, that are original, were numbered.
I can't say if ALL were numbered, but a un-numbered one would not make sense to me, as we have seen numbered ones in under 100 serial range.

Unnumbered ones for repros are common, as the repro artist would have had to keep changing the serial number for every example produced.

If original, a unnumbered TeNo Jr. example would always raise questions of 'Where is the number?', and hence would be a tough sell.
-JMO- perhaps others have a different view.

Should be numbered on the top of the scabbard also, both matching. Grip appears cracked. Looks original from the photos.

I talked to the auctioneer on the phone.
He sees no numbers in the scabbard or blade.
It came from the estate of Wallace Gleaves.
Wallace was a hobby type collector/dealer who past away over 10 years ago. He set up at the OVMS shows.
I guess this could be anything and was most likely picked up at a show :-(

                    I just received these photos.
Number on scabbard, but I am not sure about the blade.

To me the cross guard looks good and the Eickhorn mark sits where it should and doesn't bleed into the gutter of the blade as it does on most replicas.

Usually the Eickhorn logo is present on the back of the 2 white grip.

Thanks for all the comments. Now to see if it goes for a fair price.

I think it looks like a period example. Definitely worth less due to the missing number on the dagger blade as well as the cracked grip plate. Finding a replacement dry set of those is like trying to find hen's teeth.
