NSKK No maker mark? Dodgy?

Hi all. As per my other thread, I'll repeat:
I have been asked by a friend to help him find a new owner for a few items locally here in SA.
I know a bit about fighting knives and Japanese swords, but know very little about German stuff except that I avoid them because I know nothing, and because most have been messed with at least, and a lot of good fakes out there too. So hoping you guys can assist me with a little info on this one.

I think this is an NSKK dagger? However, there are no markings at all that I can find. I looked for signs that it has been ground or removed, but can't see an area where that would have occurred.
That said...I guess it has to be either a post war put together, or one that had the markings removed. Because it can't be an unmarked, wartime one, right?
Grip has some damage either side. Aging seems appropriate.
Blade doesn't show cross graining much, so am I looking at a buffed blade?
Pitting on the scabbard means it was refinished or......?

Would like to be able to describe it honestly, but not sure exactly what I have here. Any comments greatly appreciated.

Initially when I saw the title, I figured the dagger was a ground Röhm example where the maker mark was removed along with the Röhm dedication. However, that scenario would only be correct on an early vintage dagger.

This dagger appears to have played crossguards which leads me to suspect it is a later vintage dagger. That said, I have occasionally seen an unmarked SA/NSKK dagger, so it certainly is possible.

Thanks Billy. So by later vintage, do you mean post war, or later wartime?
What would the honest description be? Genuine but with no maker mark...or should I be wary of something here.
What are the chances it is legit but unnamed?

This item has lots of visible problems and some not so.
They are not going to 'heal up and hair over' it will
have these problems forever. If you buy it you will regret it sooner or later.
