Here is a rare WKC shooting prize triple etch bayonet awarded for Shooting and running in 1936.

This one was showcased in Wayne's Techet's fine book.

A wonderful item and pictured in THE bible for all etched bayonet collectors, too!

I have a 1934 dated WKC shooting prize which also has the earlier WKC maker mark for comparison..different etch pattern and different maker mark. Interesting.

From my understanding (as I'm no expert on prize bayo's) these shooting prize bayo's are custom pieces that were made on a what was ordered.

A price list was given so that the customer could gage the cost of the options.
For example:

1. One side etch, single side, standard grip.
2. Double Side etch, reverse scroll pattern
3. triple etch (spine etch)
4. two line wording
5. Three line wording
6. Four line wording
7. Stag grip
8. Blue panel background
9. Gold lettering
10. lettering: shadow accents

The above is just a short example of a list of optional features that could be ordered.
So one can order for a even a prize bayo but it could have a range of 'options' like a muscle car from the 1960's.
Like anything else, to get one with full options were quite expensive and rarely ordered. Very few of those examples survived the conflict. I had this one in my collection
at one time, unfortunately no longer.

Here's the full option example. This Prize Bayo was of extreme beauty and workmanship. Also a 1936 example from firm of Paul Weyersberg.

Even the Makers Logo was gilded.

Weyersberg only produced etched honour bayonets, shooting prizes and the like and their products are always high end and just gorgeous..
