    Hello collectors,

I'd like to have your help to understand what we have here.

Thank you in advance, cheers Mike

You have a SS NCO degen in very poor condition. As to why it has two scabbard rings I don’t know. It seems somewhere in my mind I recall seeing another with two rings but can’t remember where.

Given the overall condition of the sword it’s had to say just when, where, or who did the work (but it’s not factory). Because there is what looks like evidence of welding on both the added second ring and its scabbard band. As well as some additional welding near the top of the scabbard underneath the mount on one side. With the why part at this late date also an unknown. FP

and very nice they are too, just a damn shame about the rest of it
Ref. the second scabbard ring embelishment ,maybe the S.S. NCO was in a Cavalry unit.

            cheers

I don’t think it would have been for a SS equestrian as they used a saddle hanger that held the sword in a vertical position. The whole thing is very bizarre and looks like back yard welding. I could possibly see the addition of another ring but why the other weld on what looks like just one side under the upper scabbard fitting?

In agreement, the way t's done and welding looks like postwar to me as well. FP
