    SS sword for your consideration

    Good evening to all

I may have the opportunity of buying this sword, it looks like a heer sword customized by a SS member ... The blade is engraved as well ... Any thoughts on that pretty one ?

IMO these is original Heer sabre, with post war made SS inscription on blade and P-guard.

        Good morning

Thank you for your messages .... I have heard of Heer sword turned into SS sword before the SS Diebitsch model was produced so i hope that would be a valid example ...

So for you there is no chance this is a real SS pre-diebitsch sword ???

        Best Regards

While I imagine the numbers could always be argued, from what I’ve seen the number of fake SS sabers significantly outnumbers the originals - and this example does not give me a good feeling when evaluated as compared to them. PS: The connection of the SS Degen to Diebitsch has been discussed at length at other times and places with no provable period basis found, also noting that the M1936 you sometimes see when referring to them is also in error with the awards starting in 1935. THank you very much for these precisions ...

I guess it is a safe bet to stay away and invest in books for now

            Regards

I agree along with the others that this saber does not give me a good feeling but I am interested in what type of metal is the hilt made of.
