Beautiful longer version Heer etched bayonet

I am finally getting around to taking more photos and everyone has liked what I have shown so far so I'll keep going! Here is another great longer etched bayonet with a nice Heer etching produced by WKC. Let me know what ya think!

This pattern 103 from the WKC catalog is not what I would expect. I have 6 such pattern etches in my collection and not one of them show the same embellishments to the two bookends.

Here are pictures of two of mine to show you what I mean.

I and not sure if I would be concerned about this etch.

I picked all of the etched bayo's from the same woman a few years ago. I believe I showed Ron W. and Wayne T. and they liked what they seen. I was a little confused with what your last comment said John. "I and not sure if I would be concerned about this etch." hoping that means you do like it as well? ha

I would love to see another example of these bookends that BlainLeamon87 has from someone else's collection, that is if anyone else would like to share. They are indeed different and eagle eye John Z. is all over it!! I would like to think its just a variation that we see from time to time. The overall wear of the bayonet seems consistent. I'm not saying good or bad until another example can be produced.

Funny, is it me, or has this hobby of ours turned into a guilty until proven innocent kind of environment??

My point is that the etch pattern pictured in Blain's bayonet does not correspond to any such 101 or 103 pattern etch that I have in my collection nor have I seen this pattern. In fact, all of the such etches in Wayne's book look like mine and the ones that I posted.

That being said, the picture of the etch in the Holler catalogue (pg 172 in wayne's book) shows this pattern bookends. Blain's etch is clean and crisp and does not exhibit any of the obvious flaws that we look for in fakes. The only thing I see, other than the bookend differences are the small etching flaws that we are used to seeing on Holler produced etches.

I am not calling this is wrong, but I sure would like to see another such example.

Amazing source of information John, thank you very much. Hopefully someone has another example to pop up. I feel it is good myself looking at it in hand.
